Michelle Ceja (b.1988, Los Angeles) is a Mexican-American artist currently based in Tokyo. Her practice started with investigating the sensory experience of contemporary technologies, special effects, fantasy, and computer graphics; materializing these experiences into sculptures, animations, and installations. Currently, she aims to translate her experience with clinical depression and anxiety into works that can act as a catalyst for liberating oneself from the stigma of mental health. She has shown in group exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; Bitforms Gallery, New York; Preteen Gallery, Mexico City; Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Klaus Von Nichtssagend Gallery, New York, and the 10th Lyon Biennale in France.
